CBC RADIO ONE ANNOUNCES AN EXCITING NEW LINEUP FOR THE 2015 SUMMER SEASON

CBC Radio One has an exciting lineup of new programs for the   2015 summer season that deliver the level of excellence that listeners expect from CBC, while bringing new diverse voices, stories, worlds and experiences. The new summer season begins on   Monday, June 29and is sure to keep listeners entertained and engaged with shows about exploring the human body inside and   out with no restrictions, introducing Canadians to the aboriginal youth who are helping change and shape this country, curating an eclectic mix of   podcasts, and more.

  “This summer ushers in fresh talent and invigorating content, reflecting the momentum and renaissance that we are seeing in the audio and radio space,”   said Cindy Witten, interim executive director of radio and audio, English Services, CBC. “The compelling lineup includes New Fire with   host Lisa Charleyboy, hailed as one of three Aboriginal millennials to watch for by the Huffington Post Canada; and Podcast Playlist, a Radio One show   bringing the most intriguing from the cultural boom in podcasting, curated by audio DJ Sean Rameswaram. This is just some of the programming energizing the   way we think about and listen to radio.”

  Grownups Read Things They Wrote as Kids   - Mondays at 9:30 a.m. (10 a.m. NT) and Fridays at 11:30 a.m. (12 NT)

This audience favourite returns for a second summer season. Courageous Canadians read their childhood and teenage writing out loud in front of an audience.   Embarrassing, moving, hilarious—all captured live during a 10-city tour.

 

 
New Fire

“Urban Native Girl” Lisa Charleyboy brings you conversations you won’t hear anywhere else. From teenage rebellion and ‘Red Rage’ to sex, dating and clans,   New Fire brings you aboriginal youth who aren’t afraid to speak their minds and ignite conversation.

 
The Current’s By Design

  Listeners will now have access to their favourite CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) Radio programs on all Android devices with the newly redesigned   app. Listeners can enjoy Radio One, Radio 2 and Radio 3 and Sonica live streams, as well as more than 80 of CBC Radio’s most popular programs on demand.   Listeners will have access to featured stories, curated every day. Audio can be found by browsing through 12 categories, including News, Health and Comedy,   or by Show. Archived episodes will also be made available and can be saved later listening.
