CBC'S RICK MERCER SCORES A HAT TRICK AT SECOND NIGHT OF CANADIAN SCREEN AWARDS

In total, CBC earns eight awards at second gala event of Canadian Screen Week

CBC Television received eight awards tonight at the second of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television’s Canadian Screen Award gala events. CBC’s comedy programs were the big winners, taking home five of the night’s awards.

The Rick Mercer Report, featuring Canada’s top political satirist Rick Mercer, took home three awards - for the second year in a row - in the Variety or Sketch Comedy categories. Gavin Crawford’s Wild West and the Canadian comedy institution, This Hour has 22 Minutes garnered the additional two comedic honours on behalf of CBC Television.
