CBC’s number-one family drama, HEARTLAND, returns for a heartwarming seventh season on Sunday, October 6 at 7 p.m. (7:30 NT) on CBC Television. This season, the multi-generational family saga is all about taking risks, stepping out of comfort zones and putting it all on the line for what they believe in: courage, love and family. Now viewers can get an intimate look at all the goings-on at the ranch with the “HEARTLAND Companion” app, a brand new second-screen experience that live-syncs to the broadcast and PVRed episodes, delivering a richer, more immersive viewing experience that complements the series, extends the episodes and provides exclusive and engaging content.

In the season seven premiere Picking up the Pieces, Amy works to heal a traumatized horse from the Saudi equestrian team who was injured on a turbulent flight to Calgary. Amy must regain her confidence if she is going to restore faith in this animal and convince his owner, an unemotional Saudi prince that his horse is worth healing.

This season the HEARTLAND family struggles to cope with recent changes at the ranch, but soon realize that with every ending comes a new beginning. A discouraged Amy realizes after some internal reflection that she needs to restore her confidence, regain her “Miracle Girl” status and focus on her work with horses. She and Ty grow even closer as they face difficult questions about their future, and Amy experiences a dramatic trauma that irrevocably changes her life. The rest of the family take on new challenges and fight for what they believe in most: love, family and a home you can always come back to.

Be a part of HEARTLAND with the dynamic second-screen experience, the HEARTLAND Companion app. Using your tablet or smartphone, the app automatically syncs with the live broadcast or PVRed episodes to give viewers access to a wide range of unique extended content and fun-filled activities. The app allows viewers to explore the ranch in-depth using the dynamic interactive map, access extended story content and behind-the-scenes featurettes, take part in a nation-wide trivia game, earn points towards winning cool giveaways and much, much more.

Set against the glorious backdrop of the foothills of Alberta, HEARTLAND is Canada’s most popular multi-generational family drama. Join Amy (Amber Marshall), Ty (Graham Wardle), Tim (Chris Potter), Lou (Michelle Morgan), Peter (Gabriel Hogan) and Georgie (Alisha Newton) as they band together to get through life in both happy and trying times.

Save the date for Wednesday, September 25 at 11 a.m. as CBC Live takes fans down the aisle for Amber Marshall’s real-life nuptials, as she says “I do” surrounded by her closest family and friends including her HEARTLAND cast mates. Gain intimate access inside Amber’s big day, as CBC Live delivers an exclusive online featurette of Amber’s rustic, cowboy chic affair, held on her magnificent ranch surrounded by the Alberta hills. Get inside details of her big day including the scoop on the gown, her flowers, the food and her extraordinary wedding venue. View the full video series on September 25 at cbc.ca/live.
