CBC MUSIC PREMIERES I.S.S. (IS SOMEBODY SINGING) COLLABORATION BETWEEN CHRIS HADFIELD AND ED ROBERTSON

Video of their unique collaboration for Music Monday performed with the Barenaked Ladies and the Wexford Gleeks now live on CBCMusic.ca

Canadian Space Agency Astronaut and musician Chris Hadfield and Barenaked Ladies’ Ed Robertson premiered their collaboration, I.S.S. (Is Somebody Singing) this morning on CBCMusic.ca.

The exclusive CBC Radio One premiere will happen on Q this morning at 10:00 a.m. (local time) followed by the CBC Radio 2 premiere on Drive this afternoon at 5:00 p.m. (local time) featuring an interview with Ed Robertson.

The song was commissioned by CBCMusic.ca and The Coalition for Music Education in partnership with the Canadian Space Agency as the official song for Music Monday 2013, the Coalition’s national celebration of song to promote music education in schools across Canada. The song was recorded on earth with Ed Robertson, the Barenaked Ladies and the Wexford Gleeks at the CBC Broadcast Centre in Toronto, and in space with Hadfield performing in orbit on the International Space Station (ISS).

I.S.S. (Is Somebody Singing) will be learned and performed by students across Canada for Music Monday 2013 on May 6.
