DRAGONS' DEN RINGS IN THE NEW YEAR WITH SPECIAL 'SECOND CHANCE' EPISODE AND AN ALL-NEW NIGHT- SUNDAYS AT 8 PM ON CBC-TV

DRAGONS’ DEN kicks of 2013 with all-new fan-favourite ‘Second Chance’ episode
Sunday, January 6 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC-TV

DRAGONS’ DEN is celebrating the New Year with a brand new episode - on a brand new night. The popular Second Chance episode of DRAGONS’ DEN, airing Sunday, January 6 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) features the return of entrepreneurs from past seasons as they revisit the Dragons for yet another chance at a deal. 2013 also signifies a new night for the hit show. DRAGONS’ DEN moves to a new home on Sunday nights at 8 p.m. (8:30NT), with encore airings Wednesdays at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT).

The Second Chance special showcases optimistic pitchers from across the country vying to demonstrate how their business models have improved, and why they now have what it takes to succeed. Rejected the first time, they re-pitch their proposals to Canada’s most discerning investors. From a Vancouver-based entrepreneur who bares it all, to a second serving of gourmet hotdogs from a West coast chain - there are plenty of options for the Dragons to reconsider.

Businesses featured in the Second Chance episode will be reaping the benefits of what has been deemed the “Dragons’ Den Effect” for the second time, as their companies are thrust back into the spotlight for yet another chance to shine. Interest in small business startups and venture capital has been sparked. Business discussions are no longer limited to boardrooms as Canadians are now discussing inventions, valuations, and investment strategies around the water cooler after every episode.

Before ringing in the New Year, the Dragons will be commemorating the holidays with visits from a number of entrepreneurs with festive business models vying for their interest on a special holiday-themed episode of DRAGONS’ DEN airing on Wednesday, December 5 at 8p.m. (8:30 NT). Featuring a PEI woman who has a new holiday tree invention, and a Toronto-based investor with an idea he hopes will help parents keep their kids off Santa’s naughty list, there is no shortage of holiday cheer in the Den.

DRAGONS’ DEN is the highest rated Canadian unscripted program on television, with an average audience of over 1.4 million Canadians each week. In addition to its success on-air, DRAGONS’ DEN is alsoa hit online, boasting an active and engaged online community averaging more than 650,000 page views per month.
