CBC BRINGS INNOVATIVE NEW DIGITAL SERVICE TO HAMILTON

CBC.ca/Hamilton expands CBC’s commitment to local content and coverage

Today, CBC officially launched CBC HAMILTON, an innovative new digital service, as part of the public broadcaster’s commitment to expanding local services to communities across the country.

CBC HAMILTON, now available at CBC.ca/hamilton, provides a robust, up-to-date experience with content tailored to the residents of Hamilton and the neighbourhoods in which they live. It is one of five new local services being rolled out as part of CBC’s Strategy 2015: Every One, Every Way.

“Connecting people to their neighbourhoods and communities is a key part of the service CBC provides to Canadians,” said Kirstine Stewart, executive vice-president, English Services. “We are so pleased to be coming to Hamilton with this innovative new digital service.”

CBC reporters Jessica Young, Samantha Craggs, Julia Chapman, well-known local journalist Paul Wilson as well as local bloggers will provide the content from CBC’s office located in the heart of the city’s arts community.

CBC.ca/hamilton provides an in-depth, neighbourhood-focused experience for Hamilton residents, catering to the needs of each individual user, from local news, weather and traffic alerts to things to do and the local economy. All this, while hosting the conversation within the community about the issues that matter to Hamiltonians.

Plus, using leading-edge technology, CBC.ca/hamilton adapts to any device and resizes itself accordingly. All of our information can be seen on any digital device—desktop, smartphone or tablet—so Hamiltonians can always get what they need, when and where they want it. Adding to the ease of service, there’s a pinned map on the home page—zoom to your neighbourhood and find out what’s going on closest to where you live. And the homepage always leads with the most recent information—with one look, you’re always up-to-the-minute on what’s happening in Hamilton.

The executive producer of CBC HAMILTON is Roger Gillespie and the producer is Conrad Collaco.
