CBC VANCOUVER'S MUSIC NOONERS KICK OFF THE SUMMER

The free outdoor concert series returns July 3 with Jim Byrnes and The Sojourners

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - CBC Vancouver’s free summer-long concert series, Musical Nooners, returns to the   outdoor stage at the CBC Vancouver Broadcast Centre on Friday, July 3rd at 12:00 pm with a performance by soul gospel group The Sojourners, featuring Jim   Byrnes and hosted by Miyoung Lee, host of CBC News Vancouver at 11.

  “CBC Vancouver’s Musical Nooners has become a tradition that the city looks forward to at the start of each summer,” says Johnny Michel, senior managing   director, CBC British Columbia and Alberta. “The concert series has become an unofficial kick-off to summer! It’s wonderful to see the community coming   together to enjoy live music over the lunch hour each day, singing and dancing to new local and even international musical talent. The artists are   multi-cultural and cross-genres; a great reflection of this diverse and vibrant city.”

  Now in its 6thyear, the Musical Nooners free concert series runs Monday - Friday, from noon to 1pm, at the CBC Broadcast Centre at 700 Hamilton   Street (between Robson and Georgia) from July 3 - August 21.

  The show kicks off with CBC News Vancouver host, Miyoung Lee and a Vancouver-based band that fuses the sounds of doo wop, R&B, country and blues for a   gospel sound unlike any other. Adding Canadian blues icon Jim Byrnes to the mix promises a show with the rousing, feel-good sounds of summer.

  Monday, July 6 - Kendel Carson and Dustin Bentall hosted by CBC’s Amy Bell

  Tuesday, July 7 - JohnWelsh Band hosted by CBC’s Rick Cluff

  Wednesday, July, 8 - Dawn Pemberton hosted by CBC’s Miyoung Lee

  Thursday, July 9 - Roy Forbes hosted by CBC’s Sheryl McKay

  Friday, July 10 - Marlin Ramazzini hosted by CBC’s Gloria Macarenko
