CBC WHIPS UP THE BEST AMATEUR BAKERS IN THE COUNTRY FOR THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW

CBC today announced the 10 amateur bakers who will compete on THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW, premiering Wednesday, November 1 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT)Over the course of eight episodes, this group of diverse bakers from across the country will whip, whisk, ice and knead their way through a series of culinary themed challenges. Each week, they will compete against themselves to achieve their personal best in baking, while hoping to last through the series in order to take the Great Canadian Baking Show title. Based on the beloved British format, THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW is hosted by actor and writer Daniel Levy and actor Julia Chan. The series judges are esteemed pastry chefs Bruno Feldeisen and Rochelle Adonis.

Each week, the bakers will compete in three challenges, bringing their own style and unique backgrounds to light through their sumptuous creations. Every episode features the Signature Bake, the Technical Bake and the Show Stopper. After the bakes are tested and critiqued, the judges will decide who the week’s Star Baker is and who will be sent home. In the final episode, three bakers remain and will vie for the title of Canada’s best amateur baker. Meet the bakers below.

·         Sabrina Degni, 25, a graphic designer from Montreal, QC

·         James Hoyland, 45, a physics professor from Richmond, BC

·         Vandana Jain, 36, a chief financial officer from Regina, SK

·         Linda Longson, 63, a payroll supervisor from High River, AB

·         Pierre Morin, 56, a retired dentist and musician from Cantley, QC

·         Corey Shefman, 31, a human rights lawyer from Toronto, ON

·         Sinclair Shuit, 44, an optometrist from London, ON

·         Jude Somers, 60, a retired animator from Victoria, BC

·         Terri Thompson, 36, a domestic engineer  from Sherwood Park, AB


THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW is produced by Proper Television in association with CBC and Love Productions. The executive producer is Cathie James, and the series producer is Marike Emery. The format is owned by Love Productions and distributed by Sky Vision. In addition to the original British series, the format has been produced in 23 territories including America, Australia, France and Ireland. The Great Canadian Baking Show is presented with Robin Hood. The Robin Hood Baking Family consists of a portfolio of leading baking brands.
