CBC RADIO ONE ANNOUNCES NEW HOSTS FOR NORTH BY NORTHWEST AND ALL POINTS WEST

Margaret Gallagher and Jason D’Souza will begin their new host positions in January 2023

Vancouver, B.C. – Two familiar voices are set to grace airwaves on CBC Radio One for audiences across the province and in Victoria, B.C. Starting January 7, 2023, CBC’s Margaret Gallagher steps into the hosting chair of weekend morning show North by Northwest, while Jason D’Souza helms Victoria’s afternoon show All Points West, effective January 16, 2023.

“In their own special and unique ways, both Margaret Gallagher and Jason D’Souza have formed deep and genuine connections with their audiences,” says Shiral Tobin, Director, Journalism and Programming CBC, British Columbia. “I look forward to hearing them continue to tell the stories that will engage, inform and entertain both new and loyal listeners, and I congratulate them on their new roles.”

Audiences across the province will know award-winning reporter Margaret Gallagher from CBC Radio One's longest running radio program, Hot Air, and regular reporting on CBC Radio One Vancouver shows The Early Edition and On The Coast. Now, as longtime North by Northwest host Sheryl MacKay prepares to retire from the weekend morning program on Dec 31, 2022, Gallagher will step away from the jazz show and bring her enthusiasm for the arts to North by Northwest, B.C.s #1 weekend radio show.

“Hosting North by Northwest is a wonderful opportunity to meet creative people from every corner of the province and to share their stories with British Columbians,” said Gallagher. “I am excited to grow connections with North by Northwest's devoted audience who have made the show a part of their weekend morning routine.”

Victoria listeners will be familiar with producer and host Jason D’Souza. Before relocating to Ontario in 2020 to host Toronto’s weekend CBC Radio One morning show, Fresh Air, D’Souza spent time as the voice of All Points West while its host was on maternity leave. He also produced the multi-platform series Matheson, where D’Souza spent an entire month embedded at LA Matheson Secondary School in inner city Surrey, B.C., to explore high school life in the fastest-growing city in the province. Now, he returns to the Island’s airwaves and the capital city of British Columbia.

“Coming back to Victoria and All Points West allows me to reconnect with my West Coast roots as well as the amazing Island community that relies on CBC Radio to keep them informed,” said D’Souza. “I’m thrilled to return to CBC Victoria’s team of smart, curious journalists and to connect with the local community.”

Audiences can listen to North by Northwest and All Points West on CBC Radio and CBC Listen, and for more information about CBC British Columbia, visit cbc.ca/bc.
