Highlights of programs new to CBC Gem this January:
- CBC’s winter lineup sees the return of Saint-Pierre (Jan. 5), Still Standing (Jan. 6), Small Achievable Goals (Jan. 6), Allegiance (Jan. 7) and Wild Cards (Jan 7) for new seasons - all available on CBC TV and CBC Gem. Season 19 of Murdoch Mysteries continues with a Calgary Stampede-set episode on January 5 featuring guest star Amber Marshall (Heartland).

- New documentaries from The Passionate Eye in January include SPEAK. (Jan. 7), following five bold young voices on a high-stakes quest to win the Super Bowl of public speaking, and Made in Ethiopia (Jan. 14), where three women’s lives change when a Chinese factory complex attempts a high-stakes expansion in rural Ethiopia. New episodes of The Nature of Things look at Survival of the Slowest (Jan. 15), Can Dogs Talk? (Jan. 22) and CLUCK! Chickens Exposed (Jan. 29), on CBC TV and CBC Gem.
- Spotlighting Italian culture, the Ciao Italia Collection includes drama series The Bad Guy (Jan. 16 and 30), following a Sicilian prosecutor who seeks revenge after being wrongly convicted; Jamie Cooks Italy (Jan. 30), taking viewers on a delicious journey through Italy’s iconic culinary traditions; and doc feature Milano: The Inside Story of Italian Fashion (Jan. 30), exploring the global influence and cultural impact of the country’s fashion industry.
- The Cold Competition Collection builds anticipation for the excitement of winter sports at Milano Cortina 2026 on the ice and beyond, with titles including documentary series Redemption Run (Jan. 23, pictured), following Canadian athletes striving to earn their place on the world stage in the punishing sport of bobsleigh; and doc feature Mareya Shot, Keetha Goal: Make The Shot (Jan. 23), highlighting the determination of four South Asian junior hockey players chasing an NHL future.
- New films on CBC Gem include Tribeca 2025 selection Sacramento (Jan. 2) starring Michael Cera , Maya Erskine, Kristen Stewart and Michael Angarano; Fortescue (Jan. 9), an exploration of mental health, female friendship and the artistic process; The Sisters Brothers (Jan. 16), adapted from the bestselling Canadian novel and starring Joaquin Phoenix, John C. Reilly, Jake Gyllenhaal and Riz Ahmed; Do I Know You From Somewhere? (Jan. 16) about a couple whose shared past begins to be replaced by an alternate timeline, forcing them to face a bittersweet choice about their future; and Hands That Bind (Jan. 30), a thriller starring Paul Sparks, Bruce Dern, Nicholas Campbell and Will Oldham.
