SHELAGH ROGERS TO STEP DOWN AFTER 43 YEARS WITH CBC RADIO
A familiar voice to Canadians across the country, Shelagh Rogers, announced on Saturday that she will step down after 15 years as host of CBC’s THE NEXT CHAPTER, at the end of this season. Since 2008, Rogers has hosted and produced the program that is devoted to Canadian writers and songwriters, elevating new voices alongside literary icons. Her final show will be available Saturday, June 24 on CBC Radio and CBC Listen.

CBC’S HEARTLAND KICKS OFF SEASON 17 PRODUCTION WITH ITS 250TH EPISODE
CBC’s original family drama HEARTLAND starts production on its 17th season this week in Alberta. Season 17 features 10 one-hour episodes, the first of which will be the 250th episode of the series that started in 2007. Produced by Dynamo Films and SEVEN24 Films, Season 17 will premiere exclusively in Canada on CBC and CBC Gem this fall.

ELEANOR WACHTEL ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT AFTER NEARLY FOUR DECADES WITH CBC RADIO
Veteran broadcaster and literary luminary, Eleanor Wachtel, announced yesterday that she will step down from CBC’s WRITERS & COMPANY, a program she co-created and has hosted since 1990. Wachtel’s final deep-dive with international writers as host of the program will be Sunday, June 25. This season finale will also bring the final chapter of this remarkable series to a close, and the development of a new literary program for CBC Radio and CBC Listen will begin.

GLOBAL TASK FORCE FOR PUBLIC MEDIA OBJECTS TO TWITTER'S LABELLING OF AUSTRALIAN, CANADIAN, NEW ZEALAND, AND SOUTH KOREAN PUBLIC BROADCASTERS
The Global Task Force for public media is calling on Twitter to correct the designation of four of its members, which have been labelled as “Government-funded Media”. This misleading label was applied without warning or consultation to the accounts of four organisations: the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), CBC/Radio-Canada, Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) and Radio New Zealand (RNZ).
