CBC Television’s most popular family drama, HEARTLAND, continues its sixth season Sundays at 7 p.m. (7:30 NT). The season premiere sees the introduction of fiery newcomer, Georgie (Alisha Newton) - a funny, smart-mouthed, and adventurous 11-year-old who has a penchant for drawing the main characters into situations they wouldn’t normally find themselves in. Meanwhile, Amy struggles to understand why Ty hasn’t said a word about the engagement ring she discovered, while learning to deal with Ty’s acceptance to vet school and the new friends who take him away from her. But, as always, the family faces challenges together, sometimes with exasperation, sometimes with love and always with a healthy sense of humour.

New to CBC Television, the live weekly competition series, OVER THE RAINBOW, chronicles untapped musical theatre talent as they vie for the coveted role of Dorothy in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s upcoming stage adaptation of the popular 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, opening this December at the Ed Mirvish Theatre in Toronto. Thousands took to the stage during the cross-country audition process, but only 20 hopefuls were chosen to audition for the Lord himself, who whittled the talented group down to ten. Hosted by popular media personality, Daryn Jones, the eight-week series features live one-hour performance shows on Sunday nights (beginning September 16 at 8 p.m. / 8:30 NT), followed by live half-hour results shows on Monday nights (beginning September 17 at 8 p.m. / 8:30 NT). Each Monday, the bottom two Dorothys (as determined by an online public vote) will perform head-to-head, and only one participant will be saved from elimination by the judges. The competition will culminate in a showdown between the final three, with Lord Lloyd Webber himself in attendance, and Canada choosing the winner.
